In Step With Jesus

In Step With Jesus, a brand new resource produced by the General Conference Sabbath School and Personal Ministries Department as a means of welcoming new members to the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The core of this resource is in print format. It is comprised of four Bible study guides, designed similarly to the Adult Bible Study Guide. These study guides focus on the following subtitles:

  • The Journey Begins
  • The Power of Love
  • The Power of the Word
  • The Power of Mission

This Web site provides additional resources to augment these Bible study guides. Its goal is to disciple new members as they take their places alongside other members of God’s family. It seeks to introduce these new members to the doctrine, heritage, and lifestyle of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Mathematical Economics, Debt and the Sabbath Rest

This paper shows that the biblical laws concerning the Sabbath and debt forgiveness can be viewed as a rational answer to a technical economic problem. It is shown that there is a mathematical ratio of debt market activity to exchange market activity which is six-sevenths. Moreover, to facilitate this, agents must, on average, rest one seventh of the time given to economic activity. The observance of biblical commandments achieves this ratio. Hence, biblical laws can be interpreted as a means of managing the macroeconomic debt cycle.

Symmetry, Invariance, and the Circular Geometry of Debt as an explanation of Biblical Sabbatical and Debt laws

This paper shows that the geometric representation given is consistent with the economic outcomes induced by the simultaneous observance of a combination of two biblical laws. These laws are related to the weekly Sabbatical cycle and a seven year debt cycle.
