Who is the Father was Pastor Manzano’s presentation title. He started off by saying that the test of fatherhood is commonly carried out on reality TV shows like Jerry Springer in the USA and Jeremy Kyle in the UK.
If you have every watched a episode concerning a father and a child you may have noticed that through the use of DNA, a paternity test will reveal whether both parties have a biological relationship. Typically the TV presenter would say something like “join us after the break to find out if he is the father”
As much as it is important to verify our earthly fathers, Pastor Manzano guided us through the importance of knowing whether God or the devil is our father. Its sounds a little harsh right, but keep on reading and all will be revealed.
Similar to how our society uses a paternity test to determine a child’s biological father, the bible has a test of it’s own too. God places things in the physical world to help us better comprehend the wonders of the spiritual world. God knows that without these parallels we wouldn’t quite understand him, his power or the way He works.
He quickly addressed the common misconception between both Christians and non – Christians who believe that our Creator and our Father are synonymous. Although God created all things, He is not everyone’s Father.
How do we know this?
First of all in Acts 17:24-26 God is introduced as a Maker, because he made all things, this relates to His ownership over all created things. However Christ didn’t tell the multitude to call God ‘Our father’ this was only reserved for his disciples.
Not everyone acts like they are children of God. Thus only those who have a relationship with God should call God ‘father’ because this title is relational.
John 8:41,42 Jesus tells the scribes that ‘He says what He has seen from his father but they do what their father’s do.’
Whoever we emulate is our father, God is Christ father because He reflects God perfectly.
Sadly many of us emulate the devil and therefore He is our father.
Romans 8:14-16 states the DNA make up of sons of God ‘For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Therefore we must be lead by the Spirit of God is we are to be considered as children to our heavenly father.
Christ is the son of God and son of man, as He is the only perfect representation of his father, also so we can emulate Him and in essence we emulate God. Thus Let us strive to build a relationship with Christ so that on His return he will not say ‘I know you not , depart from me.’
Join us again on Sabbath morning and evening for a rich blessing.
