One of the main reason I believe in God is because His words are constantly relevant and are applicable for today as much as they were for yesterday. In today’s world, the fulfilment of prophecy brings the bible to life, despite the strong influence of science which seeks to disprove God.
The basis of an entire system of belief in the absence of the Creator who they claim do not exist and was not responsible for creation seems almost absurd!
Many times the bible has stated key principles which were later confirmed by science and somehow when science has affirmed these old age facts they appear more credible. As Seventh-Day Adventist Christians, who believe in the spirit of prophecy one of our greatest tool is the word.
Within the Bible, there are numerous divine truths that even science has failed to predict or clarify. I believe this is the way how God upholds His sovereignty. As human beings, our knowledge and understanding are limited whilst God remains all knowing.
Isaiah 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Today we will be addressing what the bible says about a current political stand which is taking place right on our doorsteps. BREXIT or IN.
Millions will vote to remain or stay in the European Union. You may have decided to vote also. Despite it being hard to foretell what the definitive result from today’s votes will bring, one thing I am sure of is that there will not be unity within Europe before Christ second coming. How can I be so sure? Well because Bible prophecy suggests this in Daniel chapter 2.
As we read Daniel chapter 2, we are privy to the unexplainable dream of Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylon. This dream perplexed all the wise men in Babylon, and Nebuchadnezzar was angered by this. I mean can you imagine, all of the best magicians and astrologers were stunned by the request of the King, as they were expected not only to interpret such a dream but also to profess a dream they themselves had not dreamt. However, Daniel found favour in the eyes of the God and confesses that it is only through God, that he was able to tell and interpret the Kings dream.
At the feet of the statue, Daniel professes that the part iron and part clay composition represents that the final kingdom will be partly strong and partly broken. In other words, there will be no unity in this kingdom until Christ second return. This Kingdom is no other than Europe.
This is amazing, as the current debate also suggest that whether Britain remains or leave the EU, there will not be unity. This I would say is the fulfilment of prophecy.
Boris Johnson the former Mayor of London states, “The past 2,000 years of European history have been characterised by many repeated attempts to unify Europe under a single government in order to recover the continent’s lost ‘golden age’ under the Romans….” however every attempt has ended ‘tragically’ as there is no ‘underlying loyalty’.
Has Boris been reading the Bible, or is he just voicing his view of history? Either way Daniel 2:42, 43 states; 42 And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken. 43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
Let us be encouraged that we are fast approaching the second coming where Jesus will return and as Christians, there is a great work to be done, both within ourselves and in the world. We have a duty and a purpose before Christ second coming. Here are a few verses which remind us of our purpose.
2 Timothy 2:2 You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.
1 Peter 4:11 If any man speak, [let him speak] as the oracles of God; if any man minister, [let him do it] as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Also, this Saturdays come and join us as we worship together at our Culture day. Though we have our individual cultures we are all part of one body.
