Jesus, new the rich young rulers weakness, and he knew it was a great deal to give up. Although he was good in all other areas of his life he was not willing to leave all behind to follow Christ.
In order for us to make it into the kingdom of God we must be obedient in ALL things. Sadly, the rich young ruler walked away without reading the fine print which says, “Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to them, “no one who has left home or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God will fail to receive many times as much in this age, and in the age to come eternal life.” (Luke 18:29).
In this text, Pastor Manzano reminded us that Jesus has not called us to be poor to follow him, he said we will receive more in this life, and in the life to come. This was the fine print the rich young ruler missed.
God is calling us to give him our sinful lives in exchange for a sinless one. Our end will not be like the dog who sacrificed what he had thinking he would attain more but losing everything. Instead Christ gives us more now in this life and even more in the one to come.
